Meet Nneile Nkholise, The Powerhouse Engineering Africa’s Future with Bold Innovation and Heart

In the vibrant world of African entrepreneurship, Nneile Nkholise stands tall as a powerhouse of innovation and impact.

From her roots in mechanical engineering to pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare and agriculture, she’s reshaping Africa’s future—one bold idea at a time.

Born in Lesotho and raised in South Africa, Nneile’s journey started in the halls of the Central University of Technology, where she earned her BTech in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a master’s degree. What began as a career in public works swiftly morphed into a mission-driven quest.

In 2015, she founded iMed Tech, a groundbreaking company that fused engineering precision with deep empathy. Their crowning achievement? Custom-made, 3D-printed breast prosthetics designed for mastectomy survivors—turning technology into a lifeline of confidence and healing for countless women.

Nneile’s innovation didn’t stop with healthcare. Co-founding 3DIMO in 2018, she initially targeted sports tech, crafting tools to monitor athlete performance and prevent injuries. But when the pandemic reshaped the world, she pivoted sharply—turning her gaze to agritech.

Using AI and biometric tech, 3DIMO launched Thola, a cutting-edge platform that tracks livestock health via infrared imaging and biometric ID, alerting farmers to disease risks before outbreaks strike.

This leap into smart farming is helping farmers protect their herds and livelihoods, blending high-tech with practical, day-to-day impact.

In 2021, Nneile took empowerment to the next level with Thola Inc., a B2B marketplace that bridges African farmers and international buyers.

By simplifying export compliance and automating certifications, Thola Inc. breaks down trade barriers—opening doors to global markets for small and medium-sized enterprises and fueling growth across the continent’s agricultural sector.

Nkholise’s trailblazing spirit has earned her prestigious honors—from Africa’s Top Female Innovator by the World Economic Forum to Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30. ‘

But beyond awards, she’s a fierce champion for women in STEM, driving change and inspiring a new generation of female leaders in science, tech, and innovation.

Nneile Nkholise embodies the power of resilience, creativity, and purpose-driven leadership.

Her story is a blueprint for how engineering excellence can merge with heart to transform industries—building healthier communities, stronger economies, and a brighter future for Africa.
