How Amina Oyagbola is Championing Change, Shaping Nigeria’s Future Female Leaders

In Nigeria’s corporate and social sectors, few names resonate with the same authority and commitment to empowerment as Amina Oyagbola.

With a career spanning over three decades, she has seamlessly blended legal expertise, corporate leadership, and a passion for mentoring to become a pivotal figure in advancing women’s roles in professional spheres.

Oyagbola’s professional journey began in the legal field, where she honed her skills and developed a keen understanding of corporate dynamics.

Her transition into the corporate world saw her taking on significant roles, including serving as the Human Resources and Corporate Services Executive at MTN Nigeria.

During her tenure, she was instrumental in implementing transformative HR strategies that earned the company the Investors in People Gold Standard accreditation—the first for any Nigerian company.

Recognizing the gender disparities in leadership positions, Oyagbola founded Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering professional women through structured mentoring and leadership programs.

Since its inception, WISCAR has been at the forefront of nurturing female talent, providing them with the tools and networks necessary to ascend to leadership roles across various sectors.

Beyond her corporate and philanthropic endeavors, Oyagbola serves as the Managing Consultant at AKMS Consulting Ltd and holds positions on several advisory boards, including Afrobarometer.

Her contributions have been recognized nationally, with appointments such as her role on Nigeria’s Presidential Council on Support to Women and Girls, underscoring her influence in shaping policies that promote gender equality.

Through annual conferences, mentoring walks, and leadership programs, WISCAR continues to inspire and equip the next generation of female leaders.

Oyagbola’s vision is clear: to create a society where women have equal opportunities to lead and make impactful decisions.

Her unwavering commitment serves as a beacon for aspiring women, illustrating that with the right support and determination, the glass ceiling can indeed be shattered.
