Meet Comfort Badmos, The Woman Crafting Sustainability and Style in African Footwear

In the heart of Ibadan, Nigeria, a revolution in sustainable fashion is quietly taking place, led by the visionary entrepreneur Comfort Badmos.

As the founder and creative director of Baams Footwear, Badmos is redefining the African footwear industry by blending traditional craftsmanship with eco-conscious innovation.

Comfort Badmos’s journey into shoemaking began at the tender age of 10, driven by a desire to improve the quality of shoes her father purchased.

This early passion laid the foundation for what would become Baams Footwear, a brand synonymous with quality, style, and sustainability.

With over six years of experience as a footwear designer and a background in public health nursing, Badmos brings a unique perspective to the fashion industry.

Her commitment to innovation is evident in her work with EcoBaams Recycling, a venture that transforms plastic waste into stylish, eco-friendly footwear.

Operating in a predominantly male industry, Badmos has faced her share of challenges. Yet, she has met these obstacles with resilience and assertiveness, forming alliances and refusing to see herself as lesser. Her experiences underscore the importance of empowering women to not only access opportunities but to confidently seize them.

Baams Footwear’s innovative approach has not gone unnoticed. The brand’s commitment to sustainability earned EcoBaams Recycling a nomination for the African Green Award in 2022.

Furthermore, Badmos’s participation in programs by the Pan African Women Entrepreneurs Network, Coca-Cola Foundation, and Enterprise Development Centre highlights her dedication to continuous learning and community empowerment.

Looking ahead, Badmos envisions a future where more women engage in entrepreneurship, striving for knowledge and professionalism to ensure their competence is unquestioned. She desires that every aspiring entrepreneur find a purpose or vision for their business, as it serves as the driving force that keeps them going.

Comfort Badmos exemplifies the fusion of creativity, sustainability, and social impact.

Through Baams Footwear, she is not only crafting stylish, eco-friendly shoes but also paving the way for a more inclusive and environmentally conscious fashion industry in Africa.
