Promise Ovai Kenneth-Odum Becomes Africa’s First Certified Floral Designer by AIFD

The founder of Rukkies Decor and the Rukkies House Group, Dr. Promise Ovai Kenneth-Odum, in a historic achievement for the African floral and design industry, has been named Africa’s first Certified Floral Designer (CFD) by the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD).

This globally respected designation is awarded to floral professionals who demonstrate exceptional creativity, technical expertise, and deep industry knowledge. Earning the CFD certification involves rigorous coursework, written and practical examinations, and professional evaluations—making it one of the most demanding recognitions in the field.

Dr. Kenneth-Odum’s journey from self-taught floral enthusiast to internationally certified designer reflects years of dedication, global training, and a passion to elevate African floral artistry.

She underwent advanced training in Shanghai, China, sat for the AIFD examination in May 2025, and was awarded the certification shortly after.

“This isn’t just a personal win, it’s a continental victory,” she stated. “It proves that African floral designers can compete and stand tall on the world stage.”

Beyond personal achievement, Dr. Kenneth-Odum is using her platform to pave the way for others. Through her academy, RAFAD—Rukkies Academy for Floral Artistry and Design—she is mentoring emerging designers, offering structured training, and working to align African floral education with international standards.

She is also exploring partnerships with global institutions to launch certification programs across Africa.

“I opened this door. Now my mission is to keep it wide open for others,” she emphasized. “Through RAFAD, we’ll nurture excellence, global relevance, and structure in African floral design.”

As the visionary behind Rukkies Decor, one of Africa’s premier floral production and design companies, and the driving force behind several design-focused ventures, Dr. Kenneth-Odum continues to inspire innovation, leadership, and transformation in the creative space.
