President Mahama Appoints Meredith Addy as Ghana’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Meredith Naakai Lamptey Addy as Ghana’s Permanent Delegate (Ambassador) to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Her appointment, made through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, places her at the helm of Ghana’s permanent mission to UNESCO, headquartered in Paris, France.

The Ghana Commission for UNESCO confirmed the appointment in a Facebook post on Tuesday, saying, “A hearty congratulations to H.E. Mrs. Meredith Naakai Lamptey Addy on your appointment as Ghana’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. We warmly welcome you to the Commission!”

Meredith Naakai Lamptey Addy is the daughter of the late David Lamptey, a renowned businessman and financier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who also represented the Klottey Korle Constituency in Parliament in 1996.

During her national service from 2008 to 2009, she worked as her father’s personal assistant at the Sidalco Group of Companies, which included Dominion Oil, Radio XYZ, and TV XYZ.

An active member of the NDC, Lamptey Addy currently serves as the Ranking Member of the party’s National Business Development Committee.

She is also part of the NDC’s National Welfare Committee, the Sports Committee, and the GaDangme Caucus.
