    KPMG South Africa Appoints Joelene Pierce as Incoming CEO

    KPMG South Africa has appointed Joelene Pierce as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2026. 

    Pierce will take over from Ignatius Sehoole, who is set to retire, following a partner vote held on July 31, 2025.

    Currently serving as Head of Financial Services and a member of KPMG’s Policy Board, Pierce has been with the firm for 26 years, including 19 as a partner. 

    Her extensive experience covers retail banking, corporate treasuries, securities trading, and asset-backed securitisation, working closely with some of KPMG’s largest clients.

    Sehoole, who is also Chairman of KPMG Africa, commended Pierce’s leadership skills and commitment to the firm’s values, noting her ability to connect with stakeholders and maintain a strong focus on innovation, ethical governance, and public trust.

    Pierce expressed gratitude for the opportunity, pledging to continue driving transformation, ethical practices, and strategic growth, while reinforcing KPMG’s role in both social and economic development. 

    She highlighted plans to strengthen client relationships across industries and invest in the firm’s people and culture.

    A structured handover between Sehoole and Pierce will take place ahead of the transition to ensure continuity.

    Professor Wiseman Nkuhlu, Chairman of KPMG South Africa, thanked Sehoole for his six years of service, commending his ethical leadership, transparency, and dedication to market excellence.
