Nigerian chef and culinary sensation, Hilda Baci, is gearing up for another world record attempt — this time to prepare the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.
In an Instagram announcement on Friday, Baci revealed that the event, scheduled for September 12, 2025, will take place at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The dish will be cooked in a specially designed pot measuring six meters in width and six meters in height, she disclosed.
According to her, the project has been in development for two years. Baci described the attempt as more than a culinary challenge, framing it as a cultural celebration of Nigerian food, music, and community.

“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof — the heartbeat of West Africa. A taste that tells our story,” she wrote.
The chef first rose to international prominence in May 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, before being surpassed later that year by Irish chef Alan Fisher.
With her new attempt, Baci says she hopes to “make history again” while showcasing Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage.
