Abiola Rasaq: Shaping the Future of Software Quality Across Africa

In Africa’s vibrant tech ecosystem, where innovation often steals the spotlight, Abiola Rasaq quietly works behind the scenes—ensuring that digital products aren’t just flashy but fundamentally reliable.

Through her company The Bug Detective (TBD) and her leadership of the continent’s first Test Festival, she has positioned herself as a beacon for quality in African tech.

A History graduate turned tech advocate, Rasaq has mastered software testing across numerous sectors, leveraging her expertise to transform how applications are built and reviewed.

With nearly six years under her belt, she has trained over 2,000 individuals in software testing and influenced more than 25,000 professionals through speaking events, mentorship, and training—an impressive tally that speaks to her leadership scale and reach .

In 2021, she founded The Bug Detective LTD, a pioneering Quality Assurance as a Service (QAaaS) company.

Today, TBD is more than a service provider—it’s a thriving QA ecosystem supporting a 500+ member community and serving businesses across Africa with automated and manual testing solutions .

Her ambition extended further in 2023 when she launched Africa’s first Test Festival, a landmark gathering uniting testers, QA professionals, and developers for learning, collaboration, and recognition.

Nearly 300 attendees gathered in person to elevate quality testing as an essential—not optional—pillar of tech development .

Celebrated among Tunga’s 50 Outstanding Women in Tech in 2023, Rasaq’s technical mastery is matched by her commitment to inclusion.

She’s partnered with SheCodeAfrica, SocialGoodLagos, and Cybersafe Foundation (Digigirls) to train hundreds of young women—300 via SheCodeAfrica alone, and over 6,000 through Digigirls .

As a thought leader, she demystifies complex QA concepts through content such as her Medium series, “5 Pillars of Software Testing Mastery: My 5-Year Roadmap to Success,” sharing actionable wisdom for testers aiming for impact and advancement in their careers .

Abiola Rasaq is not just testing software—she’s building an infrastructure of trust, precision, and possibility across Africa’s tech landscape.
