Nestlé Secures Top AEO Certification to Boost Supply Chain Efficiency

Nestlé Nigeria Plc has earned the highest tier of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification from the Nigeria Customs Service, reinforcing its commitment to regulatory compliance and supply chain security.

The company was granted the Security and Safety status under the AEO programme, a certification valid for five years and awarded to businesses that meet strict trade compliance and security standards.

The approval followed a rigorous assessment process involving customs audits and on-site inspections of operations.

Out of 391 applications submitted nationwide, only 35 companies achieved full AEO certification, with an even smaller number qualifying for the security and safety category.

Speaking at the certificate presentation ceremony in Abuja, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, noted that the recognition demonstrates that organisations can maintain high compliance standards despite operating in challenging business conditions.

For Nestlé Nigeria, the certification is expected to deliver operational benefits such as faster cargo clearance, fewer inspections at ports and warehouses, improved access to raw materials, and stronger collaboration with regulators and trade partners.

Commenting on the development, Nestlé Nigeria’s Supply Chain Manager, Kasum Diabate, said the certification reflects the company’s disciplined operational processes and further strengthens confidence in the reliability of its supply chain.
