Stanbic IBTC Bank Limited has announced the appointment of Funke Amobi as its new Executive Director, Operations, marking a significant leadership shift within one of Nigeria’s foremost financial institutions.

Amobi, a seasoned banking and human capital expert with more than three decades of cross-industry experience spanning oil & gas, telecommunications, and financial services, steps into the role following an impactful tenure as Deputy Head, Operations at the Bank.

In her new role, Amobi will oversee key areas of the bank’s operations including core banking services, enterprise data management, business transformation initiatives, customer experience frameworks, and procurement functions — responsibilities critical to delivering efficiency and innovation across the organisation’s service platforms.

Her appointment comes on the heels of a distinguished career at Stanbic IBTC, where she previously provided leadership for operational shared services, strategic customer experience programmes, and data and analytics delivery.

She also held senior people-and-culture roles across the Standard Bank Group in West Africa, shaping workforce development and organisational strategy across multiple countries.

Amobi’s professional credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, where she graduated with distinction and was awarded the Dean’s Prize.

She also holds postgraduate certifications in organisational development, change psychology, and talent management from leading institutions in the UK.

In addition to her executive responsibilities, she serves on the advisory boards of Lancaster University Management School (UK) and Pan-Atlantic University (Nigeria), and sits on the boards of several not-for-profit organisations, including Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR).

Her professional affiliations include fellowships with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (UK).

Industry analysts see Amobi’s appointment as a strategic move that will not only boost operational rigour at Stanbic IBTC Bank but also reinforce gender representation in senior leadership across Nigeria’s banking sector.
