Stella Oduah Secures APGA Senatorial Ticket for Anambra North

Former Aviation Minister and ex-lawmaker, Stella Oduah, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Anambra North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party officially declared Oduah winner of the senatorial primary conducted across the seven local government areas in the district on May 23. According to figures released by the party’s leadership, Oduah defeated other aspirants including Primus Odili, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, and Sir John in the keenly contested exercise.

APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, stated that the primary election was peacefully conducted across all 99 wards in the senatorial district, insisting that all officially collated results remained valid despite controversies and alternative computations circulating online.

The party also dismissed claims of manipulation, maintaining that no result was altered during the collation process. It urged dissatisfied aspirants to channel grievances through the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

Oduah, who previously represented Anambra North in the Senate and once served under former President Goodluck Jonathan as Minister of Aviation, is making another major political comeback under the APGA platform after years of political realignments between major parties.

The Anambra North Senatorial District covers Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ogbaru, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anambra East, and Anambra West local government areas, making it one of the most politically strategic districts in Anambra State.
