Maria Yuorpor Joins YAWC Network’s Global Governing Council as Director of Business Development

The Chairperson of the Upper West Regional Ghana Red Cross Society, Maria Johana Yuorpor, has been appointed as the Director of Business Development and a member of the Global Governing Council for the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network.

The announcement, made last Friday in a statement signed by YAWC Founder and Executive Chairman Daniel Osei Tuffuor, highlighted Maria’s new role and extended congratulations on her appointment.

YAWC Network is a platform dedicated to empowering young African women, both on the continent and in the diaspora, by fostering leadership and development through advocacy, training, and strategic initiatives.

The organization focuses on mobilizing women from the grassroots level to take up leadership roles and drive social and economic progress.

Maria’s appointment aligns with YAWC’s mission of engaging high-achieving women in leadership and decision-making.

As a member of the Global Governing Council, she will provide strategic oversight, participate in key policy discussions, review performance metrics, and ensure the organization’s goals align with its vision.

In her capacity as Director of Business Development, Maria will spearhead YAWC’s growth strategy, develop initiatives to expand revenue streams, and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.

Her responsibilities also include negotiating high-value contracts, collaborating with senior leadership, and ensuring effective resource allocation to drive sustainable impact.

Maria holds a BA in Psychology with Philosophy and an MPhil in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Ghana. She also possesses diplomas in HR Management, Marketing, Strategic Management, and Customer Care from the UK.

Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Development Management and Governance at SDD-UBIDS in Wa, Ghana.

In addition to her academic pursuits, she serves as a tutor at the University of Ghana’s School of Continuing and Distance Education (Wa Centre), where she teaches Psychology courses to students from levels 100 to 400.

She is also a board member of the Coalition for Positive Impact (CPI), a non-profit organization dedicated to developing African youth into transformative business leaders through innovation, mentorship, and technology.
