Laundry Hacks: Speed Up Drying Time & Avoid Wrinkles

Laundry day doesn’t have to be a drag.

With a few smart hacks, you can cut drying time in half and keep your clothes wrinkle-free—without relying on fancy gadgets.

    1. Toss a Dry Towel in the Dryer

Adding a clean, dry towel to a wet load helps absorb moisture and speeds up drying. Just remove the towel after about 15 minutes so it doesn’t hold the dampness.

    2. Use Dryer Balls (or Tennis Balls)

Wool dryer balls—or even clean tennis balls—keep clothes separated while tumbling. This improves airflow, reduces drying time, and minimizes wrinkles.

    3. Don’t Overload the Dryer

An overstuffed dryer traps moisture and leads to wrinkles. Smaller loads dry faster and more evenly.

    4. Shake Clothes Before Drying

Give clothes a quick shake before tossing them into the dryer. This prevents clumping and helps smooth out creases.

    5. Speed Up Air-Drying with a Fan

If you’re hang-drying, place a fan nearby to circulate air. This cuts drying time dramatically.

    6. Remove Clothes Promptly

Don’t let laundry sit in the dryer after the cycle ends. Taking clothes out right away prevents deep wrinkles from setting.

    7. Hang Shirts and Pants Immediately

Use hangers while clothes are still warm to avoid ironing later. Gravity helps pull out wrinkles naturally.

With these simple hacks, you’ll spend less time waiting for laundry to dry and less effort ironing out wrinkles.

That means more time for the things you actually enjoy.
