Meet Kemi Omotosho, MultiChoice Nigeria’s New CEO

MultiChoice Nigeria has named Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, with her appointment taking effect in January 2026.

The move signals a significant leadership shift for the pay-TV and digital entertainment giant, as Omotosho takes over from John Ugbe, who is retiring after nearly 15 years of steering the company through periods of expansion, innovation, and market consolidation in Nigeria.

Omotosho brings more than two decades of experience across media, telecommunications, and digital services in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa.

Widely regarded for her strengths in operational excellence, customer value management, and strategic execution, she has built a career leading complex, multi-market operations and driving sustainable growth.

In her new role, Omotosho will be responsible for shaping MultiChoice Nigeria’s overall strategy, overseeing daily operations, and managing relationships with regulators, partners, and key stakeholders.

The company says she will also play a central role in advancing local content development and strengthening Nigeria’s creative economy, underscoring MultiChoice’s long-term commitment to the country as a core market.

Commenting on her appointment, Omotosho described the role as a privilege, noting Nigeria’s strategic importance to the MultiChoice Group. She said she looks forward to working closely with teams and partners to deepen customer engagement, promote local storytelling, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers lasting value.

A long-serving executive within the MultiChoice Group, Omotosho has held several senior leadership roles. She previously served as Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria before moving on to a group-wide role overseeing the same function across more than 50 African markets.

In these positions, she led initiatives focused on reducing customer churn, accelerating digital product adoption, and improving average revenue per user. She also championed major operational transformations, including the introduction of agile project management frameworks and group-wide governance and knowledge-sharing systems.

Most recently, she was Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she managed operations across seven countries with full profit-and-loss responsibility, further strengthening her reputation as a results-driven leader capable of managing scale and complexity.

Omotosho began her career in customer service and operations at Computer Systems Associates and later held key leadership roles at Airtel Nigeria, where she worked on postpaid customer retention, enterprise account management, and revenue optimisation.

She holds an Executive MBA from Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Nigerian Institute of Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin.

Her appointment highlights MultiChoice’s focus on strong local leadership, operational discipline, and market relevance as competition intensifies in Nigeria’s evolving media and entertainment landscape.
