Meet Wola Joseph-Condotti, Eko Disco’s Interim CEO

Wola Joseph-Condotti has assumed the role of interim Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (Eko Disco), stepping into office on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Her appointment places an experienced corporate lawyer and energy executive at the head of one of Nigeria’s most critical power utilities at a time when the sector is under intense pressure to improve service reliability, manage regulatory demands, and accelerate the transition to cleaner energy.

Joseph-Condotti is no stranger to Eko Disco. She currently serves as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive of West Power & Gas Limited, the company’s parent firm, and has played a central role in shaping Eko Disco’s governance and operational structure over the years.

Her journey within the organisation began as Eko Disco’s pioneer Chief Legal and Company Secretary, positioning her at the heart of the company’s post-privatisation evolution.

Over time, her responsibilities expanded far beyond legal oversight. She went on to hold several strategic leadership roles, including Head of Regulatory Compliance, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer, Supervising Chief of the Customer Service Department, and Data Protection Officer.

These roles gave her deep insight into the utility’s regulatory environment, workforce dynamics, and customer service challenges—experience expected to guide her leadership during this interim period.

Beyond Eko Disco, Joseph-Condotti is widely regarded as a thought leader in Nigeria’s power sector, with strong interests in renewable energy, sustainability, carbon markets, and carbon credits.

Under her influence, West Power & Gas has developed a diversified energy portfolio spanning both conventional and renewable sources, reflecting her belief that Nigeria’s electricity future depends on balancing immediate operational stability with long-term energy transition goals.

Her academic and professional background spans law, finance, and corporate governance. She holds a law degree from the University of Ibadan, a master’s degree in international finance law from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.

She is also a certified board evaluation professional with the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group and a recognised corporate governance trainer.

Earlier in her career, she worked as General Counsel and Company Secretary at Lagoon Home Savings and Loans and served as a legal associate at Banwo & Ighodalo, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial law firms.

Joseph-Condotti’s work has earned her widespread recognition. She was listed among the Legal 500 GC Powerlist’s Top 100 General Counsels in Nigeria in both 2024 and 2025, named INSEAD’s “INSEADer of the Month” in April 2024, and featured among the Ascent Top 100 Career Women in Africa in 2025.

She has also appeared on several rankings celebrating Africa’s most inspiring female leaders in law and energy and was the inaugural recipient of the Legal Era Leadership Excellence Award of the Year in 2025.

In addition, she serves on multiple boards and advisory bodies, including the Women in Energy Network, where she is a founding member, and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee.

Her interim appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Eko Disco and Nigeria’s power sector, with expectations high that her deep institutional knowledge and sector expertise will help steer the utility through ongoing operational and regulatory challenges.
