NITDA and JICA Launch “IgniteHer” Bootcamp to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has launched the “IgniteHer” Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Abuja to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

This five-day intensive program is designed to empower and support women entrepreneurs across the country.

During the program’s launch, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE—represented by the Special Adviser on Strategic Partnerships, Iklima Musa—highlighted the initiative’s significance in promoting gender equality, economic inclusion, innovation, and digital transformation.

“As we mark International Women’s Day and Month, we recognize that empowering women is not just about fairness—it’s about unlocking the full potential of our society,” he stated.

He emphasized that the Bootcamp’s mission aligns with this year’s theme of empowering women entrepreneurs for a brighter future.

Inuwa expressed gratitude to JICA for its dedication to women’s empowerment and sustainable development in Nigeria, underscoring the importance of strategic partnerships in driving meaningful change. Quoting Ravi Shankar, he reiterated the indispensable role of women in shaping society, fostering innovation, and inspiring future generations.

The Bootcamp aims to address the unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, such as gaps in digital literacy and limited financial access.

Over the five-day program, participants will develop essential business skills, scaling strategies, sustainability practices, and strategic planning tools.

“At NITDA, we recognize that empowering women in business is a strategic necessity for national development. Women entrepreneurs are key drivers of economic growth, job creation, and technological innovation,” Inuwa noted.

He encouraged participants to embrace the experience with an open mind, collaborate, and seize the opportunity to learn from mentors and peers.

JICA representative Nao Fuwa expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and its benefits for Nigerian women, calling it “a great opportunity” for participants. He urged attendees to engage actively, ask questions, and immerse themselves in the experience.

Fuwa also highlighted the program’s broader impact, stating, “This event will not only shape you but will also shape the vision of Nigeria’s economy.”

The “IgniteHer” Bootcamp seeks to drive lasting and transformative change by breaking down structural barriers faced by women entrepreneurs. Through this initiative, NITDA and JICA aim to foster a more inclusive and equitable digital economy in Nigeria.
