SuperSize Your Life Expo 2025: Empowering Plus-Size Entrepreneurs and Advocates

In a groundbreaking move for inclusivity and empowerment, Unique Gibson, an African American entrepreneur, retired social worker, and lifelong advocate for fat activism, is set to host the 2025 SuperSize Your Life Expo.

This pioneering event, taking place in Chicago this June and Atlanta in August, is the first of its kind dedicated exclusively to uplifting the extended plus-size community (sizes 26+) and advocating for individuals with Lipedema and Lymphedema—two medical conditions often misdiagnosed as obesity.

The SuperSize Your Life Expo is more than just an event; it is a movement aimed at bridging the gap between the plus-size community, the medical industry, and the fashion world. With an expected turnout of over 2,000 attendees and participation from more than 250 vendors, the expo will offer an array of experiences, including empowerment speakers, confidence-building workshops, and high-end fashion showcases. Attendees will also enjoy luxury beauty activations and product sampling, reinforcing the message that plus-size individuals deserve to feel beautiful, valued, and pampered.

A key feature of the Chicago event is a patient-led town hall, where hospital administrators and medical professionals will engage directly with plus-size patients and Lipedema/Lymphedema warriors to address healthcare disparities. This forum provides a rare opportunity for the medical community to listen, learn, and work towards making healthcare more inclusive and accessible.

Meanwhile, in Atlanta, a fashion industry roundtable will bring plus-size consumers and industry leaders together to discuss the gaps in plus-size fashion. Retailers and designers will receive firsthand insights into the needs and expectations of plus-size shoppers, fostering valuable partnerships and industry progress.

“We’re sick and tired of being unwelcome, underestimated, devalued,” says Unique, who is 54 years old. “This expo is for every plus-size individual, especially those who, like Fannie Lou Hamer said, are ‘sick and tired of being sick and tired.’ It’s also for every Lipedema and Lymphedema warrior who has been left out of essential care due to a lack of resources and medical recognition.”

The SuperSize Your Life Expo 2025 schedule is as follows:

    • Chicago, IL – June 21-22, 2025
    • Atlanta, GA – July 19-20, 2025

The event strictly upholds a message of self-love and empowerment, excluding weight-loss products or services to maintain its positive and affirming environment. Instead, it prioritizes representation, confidence, and collaboration, fostering real change in both the healthcare and fashion industries.
