Susan Esisi: Chanel Beauty Architect Changing Nigeria’s Skincare Narrative

Susan Esisi has quietly redefined what it means to build a beauty empire in Africa — not through celebrity backing or viral gimmicks, but by understanding women’s needs, elevating self‑care, and boldly championing holistic wellness.

As the founder and CEO of Susan Chanel Beauty, she has transformed her passion for radiant skin into one of West Africa’s most beloved beauty brands, making her an icon of empowerment, innovation, and purposeful entrepreneurship.

Born in Calabar, Cross River State, and raised with a keen curiosity about human behaviour, Esisi studied Psychology at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) — a foundation that would later help her connect deeply with her audience’s aspirations and struggles with skin concerns.

Long before launching her brand, she was already known as the go-to person for skincare advice among her peers, selling beauty products to fellow students and nurturing a lifelong passion for skin health.

Susan Chanel Beauty began as a dream of helping African women embrace healthy, glowing skin through scientifically sound solutions — not quick‑fixes or harmful shortcuts.

Esisi has consistently emphasised her brand’s commitment to safe, effective, and tailored skincare, explicitly rejecting bleaching products and advocating instead for balanced, long‑term care that enhances natural beauty.

Her formulations are certified by Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), giving clients confidence in their safety and efficacy.

Under her leadership, the brand has grown into a beauty powerhouse with multiple flagship locations across Lagos (Ikeja and Lekki), Abuja, and Accra, Ghana — positioning Susan Chanel as a leading name in the African beauty and wellness space.

The company’s reach now extends beyond Nigeria into global markets, with devoted clientele and celebrity ambassadors including Ruth Kadiri, Tonto Dikeh, Jackie Appiah, and Laura Ikeji, who proudly represent the brand’s transformational skincare products.

Esisi’s influence isn’t limited to products alone. In 2025, she expanded her vision with the launch of Tranquil Sanctuary, a luxury underground spa in Abuja that reimagines skincare and wellness as a holistic experience.

Designed as a retreat from everyday stress, the spa blends advanced treatments with natural, herbal‑based therapies in a serene setting — reflecting her belief that beauty and wellbeing are inseparable.

What truly distinguishes Susan Esisi is her belief that beauty must be anchored in purpose and compassion. Beyond building a celebrated brand, she has integrated philanthropy into her work, regularly conducting outreach programs that support vulnerable communities.

Through the Susan Chanel Foundation, her team distributes food, essentials, and empowerment support to women, children, and the underprivileged — a practice she sees not as charity, but as an extension of her business values.

Esisi has risen from being a psychology undergraduate selling products on campus to the chief executive of a multinational beauty brand. This speaks to her entrepreneurial courage and deep empathy.

She stands as a reminder that success in the beauty industry isn’t just about glamour, but about listening, learning, and serving women in ways that uplift mind, body, and spirit.
