The United States has supplied Nigeria with additional military equipment to support the country’s ongoing fight against terrorism and other security threats.
The development was announced by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), which disclosed that the supplies were formally handed over to Nigerian authorities in Abuja.
According to AFRICOM, the delivery reflects Washington’s continued commitment to deepening its security partnership with Nigeria.

In a statement shared on its official X platform, AFRICOM said the support is aimed at boosting Nigeria’s operational capacity and reinforcing cooperation between both countries on shared security objectives.
The latest assistance comes amid intensified collaboration between Nigeria and its international partners to address insecurity across several regions of the country.
In November 2025, the administration of President Bola Tinubu had appealed to the United States for direct military support in combating terrorism in parts of the federation.
Following the request, Nigeria and the United States carried out a joint air operation in December 2025 targeting terrorist locations in the North-West.
The Federal Government later confirmed ongoing intelligence and security cooperation with Washington, stressing that the engagement aligns with international law and respects Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirmed that Nigeria remains actively engaged in structured security partnerships with global allies, including the United States, through intelligence sharing, strategic coordination and logistical support.
Reacting to the operation, US Congressman Riley Moore described the airstrikes as a decisive step toward addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, particularly the protection of vulnerable communities.
