Bboxx Appoints Ene Adesanya as New Nigeria Managing Director

Clean energy company Bboxx has appointed Ene Adesanya as the new Managing Director of Bboxx Energy Access Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to accelerating growth and impact in one of its most strategic markets.

In her new role, Adesanya will oversee Bboxx Nigeria’s participation in the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) fund, a flagship initiative aimed at expanding access to renewable energy solutions.

Through this programme, Bboxx plans to reach more than 100,000 households in 2026, delivering a diversified portfolio that includes solar home systems, solar-powered irrigation solutions for agribusinesses, and smartphone financing.

Commenting on the appointment, Anthony Osijo, Group CEO of Abci-Nexus, said the move reflects Bboxx’s focus on leadership continuity and internal talent development.

He noted that Adesanya’s elevation underscores the company’s commitment to strong, locally grounded leadership as it doubles down on its key African markets.

Adesanya brings over 17 years of experience in finance and business leadership.

Prior to her appointment, she served as Head of Finance at Bboxx Nigeria, where she played a key role in supporting market expansion, strengthening financial governance, and driving value across both commercial and donor-funded programmes.

Speaking on her new role, Adesanya said she was motivated by Bboxx’s mission to build sustainable, impact-driven energy businesses.

She expressed confidence that the company’s participation in the DARES fund, alongside its expanding energy and financing solutions, positions Bboxx to significantly scale access to essential services for Nigerian households and businesses in the coming year and beyond.

Adesanya succeeds Ernest Akinlola, who stepped down at the end of January after five years as Managing Director. Akinlola will continue to support the company as a member of the Bboxx Energy Access Nigeria board.

Osijo praised his contributions, noting his role in advancing the renewable energy agenda in Africa’s most populous country.

Bboxx operates across Africa, delivering clean energy, clean cooking solutions, smartphones, e-mobility, and selected financial products to underserved communities.

The company currently impacts the lives of more than six million people across seven markets and is part of the Abci-Nexus group.
