The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a suit seeking to disqualify the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Ireti Kingibe, from participating in the activities of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CV/539/2026, was dismissed on Friday after the court ruled against the application aimed at barring the senator from all party-related engagements within the ADC.

The legal dispute stemmed from allegations by some ward executives of the party in Wuse, Abuja, who claimed that Kingibe had been suspended over alleged anti-party activities, misconduct, and interference in ward administration.
The plaintiffs had earlier sought an interim injunction restraining the lawmaker from identifying as a member of the ADC or taking part in party functions pending the determination of the substantive suit.
However, the court declined the request and maintained that political matters of such nature require fair hearing for all parties involved before any restrictive order could be granted. Justice Peter Lifu had previously directed that the senator be served with all court processes and allowed to respond to the allegations brought against her.

The matter had generated political attention within the ADC following reports of internal disagreements linked to the party’s leadership structure and preparations ahead of the 2027 political cycle. Earlier proceedings in April also saw the court refuse an ex parte request seeking to immediately stop Kingibe from parading herself as a member of the party.
With the latest ruling, the attempt to legally stop the FCT senator from ADC activities has now been effectively halted, reinforcing her continued participation in the party pending any future legal or internal party resolutions.
