Hilda Baci clinches third Guinness World Record with world’s largest rice serving

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has earned her third Guinness World Records (GWR) title after being officially recognised for preparing the world’s largest serving of rice, further strengthening her place on the global culinary stage.

Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement following a post-event review of Baci’s 2025 record attempt in collaboration with food brand Gino.

While the original objective was to set a new benchmark for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, Guinness later determined that the same effort also qualified as the largest serving of rice overall.

The record-breaking feat was achieved on September 12, 2025, in Victoria Island, Lagos, where Baci and her team prepared an astonishing 8,780 kilograms of rice.

Official confirmation of the additional record was communicated to the chef several months later, taking her by surprise.

Reacting to the development on yesterday, January 20, 2026, Baci described the moment as both unexpected and overwhelming, noting that what she initially believed was a single record had turned into two, bringing her total Guinness World Records titles to three.

In an email signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering, Records Creative Team at Guinness World Records, the organisation explained that a comparison of record guidelines revealed that her successful jollof rice attempt simultaneously met the criteria for the largest serving of rice globally.

The latest recognition adds to Baci’s growing list of global achievements.

In May 2023, she first captured international attention after setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, cooking continuously for 93 hours and 11 minutes.

She secured her second Guinness title in September 2025 for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, before now earning a third with the newly confirmed rice-serving record.
