    Kafui Danku-Pitcher appointed Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority

    Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Kafui Danku-Pitcher has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA) Ghana, succeeding her colleague, actress Juliet Asante. Her appointment follows the recent selection of actor James Gardiner as the Authority’s Deputy Executive Secretary on Thursday, February 27.

    Kafui Danku-Pitcher is a distinguished filmmaker, author, and entrepreneur with extensive experience in the creative arts, tourism, and economic development. 

    She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English and Classics from the University of Cape Coast and is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) at the University of Ghana.

    Her expertise encompasses leadership and governance, creative industry development, strategic communication, digital innovation, and partnership building. She is deeply committed to strengthening the creative sector, preserving cultural heritage, and driving economic growth through strategic policies and initiatives.

    Since 2008, Kafui has actively contributed to the film industry as an actress and filmmaker. 

    In 2013, she became an executive producer at ABC Pictures Limited. Beyond filmmaking, she has worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as a Repatriation Assistant, where she played a vital role in implementing humanitarian policies, conducting refugee interviews, performing socio-economic assessments, and analyzing strategic data. Her work with the UN highlights her strong communication, negotiation, and cross-cultural understanding skills.

    As a social activist and Goodwill Ambassador, Kafui has spearheaded initiatives such as Silence Is Not Golden, advocating for women to speak out against injustice. She has also campaigned against child marriage and provided support for children suffering from Kwashiorkor. Her contributions to social development have earned her recognition from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) for her efforts in advancing women’s participation in politics, peacebuilding, and economic institutions. 

    She has received several accolades, including Tourism Personality of the Year 2024 and Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneur’s Rising. Additionally, she is the founder of the Dream Achievers Project, which supports startup businesses, reinforcing her commitment to economic empowerment.

    Kafui has participated in prestigious global summits, including the UN Summit of the Future 2024 and the Women Empowerment Summit.

    As the new Executive Secretary of the NFA, she aims to foster a thriving creative arts industry, empower industry players, and enhance the sector’s contribution to Ghana’s GDP.
