Kenya Airways Appoints Esther Koimett As Non-Executive Director

Kenya Airways has appointed former ICT Principal Secretary Esther Koimett as a Non-Executive Director, representing KQ Lenders Company 2017 Limited, with effect from January 26, 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the national carrier described Koimett as one of Kenya’s most accomplished public servants, citing her more than 35 years of experience across investment promotion, banking, privatisation, public enterprise reform, and public policy.

Koimett has held senior leadership roles in both the public and private sectors and has played a key role in several landmark transactions on behalf of the Kenyan government, including the initial public offerings of KenGen and Safaricom.

She previously served as Principal Secretary at the State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, where she provided policy leadership that helped advance Kenya’s digital economy and strengthen the ICT sector.

During her tenure, she oversaw multiple state agencies, including the Communications Authority of Kenya, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, Postal Corporation of Kenya, and the Media Council of Kenya.

She previously served as Managing Director and CEO of the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank.

In addition to her executive experience, Koimett has an extensive boardroom background.
