    Okomu Oil Appoints Amina Maina as Independent Non-Executive Director

    Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc has appointed Amina Maina as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective October 16, 2025. 

    The company disclosed the appointment in a statement filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) yesterday, noting that it remains subject to shareholder approval at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM).

    According to Okomu Oil, the appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening corporate governance, improving strategic oversight, and aligning board composition with global best practices in leadership diversity.

    The Company Secretary, Chukwuebuka Omerole of P.C. Obi & Co., expressed optimism about Maina’s addition, saying the board looks forward to leveraging her wealth of experience to enhance the company’s long-term growth and sustainability.

    Maina brings more than two decades of executive leadership experience across the energy, trading, and investment sectors. 

    Renowned for her strategic acumen and advocacy for sustainable business practices, she currently serves as Chairperson of Eyrie Group and has previously held senior roles at MRS Holdings Limited, including Group Chief Operating Officer and Group Executive Director.

    Her professional background spans international operations with Ovlas Trading SA, Aurora Energy Trading Ltd, and Energy Solutions Integrated Services Ltd, underscoring her influence in Africa’s energy value chain.

    Maina earned a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and completed executive programs in global management and competitive strategy at Harvard Business School and INSEAD Business School.

    Beyond corporate leadership, Maina contributes significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth. She is a member of the Presidential Economic Coordination Council (PECC) and the Governing Council of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund. 

    She also chairs Next Gen Infraco Limited, driving digital infrastructure expansion, and sits on the boards of MRS Benin and First Mutual Microfinance Bank.

    Her professional affiliations include fellowships with the Institute of Management Consultants and the Energy Institute, as well as membership in the Institute of Directors and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. 

    A founding member of the Women in Energy Network (WIEN), Maina continues to champion gender inclusion and leadership advancement across the energy industry.
