    President Mahama Appoints Joselyn Dumas as Deputy Director for Diaspora Affairs

    The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has appointed actress and media personality Joselyn Dumas as the Deputy Director for Diaspora Affairs, underscoring his administration’s commitment to involving creative industry professionals in governance.

    Renowned for her contributions to film and television, Dumas will now leverage her influence in diplomacy and public service, working to strengthen Ghana’s ties with its global diaspora.

    Her appointment is part of a broader trend of integrating creatives into government roles. 

    Fashion designer and media personality Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD) was also recently named Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs, while actress Kafui Danku and actor James Gardiner have been appointed as Executive Secretary and Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, respectively.

    In her new role, Dumas will use her extensive network to enhance Ghana’s engagement with its diaspora, promote cultural diplomacy, and elevate the country’s heritage on the global stage.

    She will also focus on fostering investment opportunities, encouraging tourism, and strengthening connections with Ghanaians living abroad recognizing their vital role in the country’s economic growth and cultural diplomacy efforts.

    According to an official statement:
    “Ms. Dumas brings a unique combination of international exposure, communication expertise, and advocacy experience to this critical role. Her appointment underscores our commitment to engaging the diaspora through innovative approaches.”

    With a substantial following both in Ghana and internationally, Dumas is well-positioned to bridge cultural and economic connections between Ghana and its citizens abroad. Her background in law, combined with her extensive work in media and philanthropy, is expected to inform her approach to diaspora engagement strategies.
