Uganda: Nation Media Group Appoints Flavia Tumusiime as Head of Broadcasting

The Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U) has appointed renowned media personality Flavia Tumusiime as its new Head of Broadcasting, ushering in a significant leadership transition at the country’s premier media organization.

With over two decades of experience in television, radio, and digital media, Flavia steps into the role previously held by Johnson Omollo, who left the Serena-based company earlier this year.

She is also the first female to assume the position since Agnes Konde’s tenure between 2013 and 2017.

“We are delighted to welcome Flavia Tumusiime as the new Head of Broadcasting at Nation Media Group Uganda,” the company announced on Monday, April 7, 2025.

“Flavia brings with her 22 years of media experience spanning TV, radio, and digital platforms. Her deep expertise in content strategy, audience engagement, and digital innovation aligns seamlessly with our future-facing vision for broadcasting,” the statement added.

Having worked across major African markets including Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa, Flavia is recognized for her insightful leadership and creative storytelling.

NMG noted that her industry influence and passion for impactful narratives would be a valuable addition to the team.

In her new capacity, Flavia will oversee the operations and strategic direction of the Group’s flagship broadcast brands—NTV Uganda, Spark TV, KFM, and Dembe FM.

Known for her grace, clarity, and professionalism, Flavia’s appointment is viewed as a bold step by NMG to reinforce its leadership in a rapidly evolving, digital-first media landscape.

At 36, Flavia’s journey began at just 14 when she made her debut on WBS TV’s Teen’s Club. By 18, she had transitioned to radio with Hot100FM before joining Capital Radio in 2006. She later worked with Channel O for about four years.

In 2015, she joined NMG’s NTV Uganda as a news anchor and morning show host, a role she held until her departure in May 2021. Since then, she has been hosting Desert Island Discs on Capital FM, following a successful run on the station’s mid-morning show.

Her return to NMG comes at a pivotal time as the Group looks to rebuild its broadcast team and revamp Dembe FM, which had temporarily ceased operations.

The announcement has been met with widespread acclaim, with many calling the move a “perfect fit” and hailing Flavia as a “trailblazer” and “a true leader in Uganda’s media industry.”
